Antique American heavy cast iron birdbath, leaf design on rim and supported by a putti with raised arms holding the shallow bowl high above his head. The Putti is standing on a fluted neck with octagonal base. The rim of the birdbath has some damage. Circa 1900.
This is one of a pair, the other is a matching Putti Urn. Could be sold individually or as a pair. Price is for birdbath only.

The use of water in the garden to nurture nature is seen most obviously in the use of a birdbath. Birdbaths were one of the first garden ornaments that were easily purchased and a simple, yet satisfying, focal point for a new garden.
