This pair of architectural elements stands over 5ft tall and is from a private villa in Reichenbach, Germany that was built in 1885 and demolished in 2011. German architecture was noted for its vigor and strong line. Beautiful patina and in very good condition given age and use.

The word obelisk is Greek, from obelos meaning pointed object. The Greeks typically erected pairs of obelisks at the entrance to buildings or walkways of importance. These would add a strong statement, grandeur and structure to any garden, drive or building.
