The Garnkirk Fireclay Company began in 1831. Their fireclay, used to manufacture firebricks and architectural products, quickly gained a reputation for being high quality. It is easy to see why this particular clay was so prized. It had a lovely warm bisque color and a dense, smooth surface that reflected light beautifully.
Garnkirk eventually expanded into garden ornaments and built a growing business on exceptional and beautifully crafted stoneware elements for the garden. In 1898, Garnkirk Fire Clay Company closed.
Pedestals are In excellent condition given age and use. Small chips to the surface. One planter has a hairline crack.
